Kitchenaid Mixer

About KitchenAid

kitchenaid mixerKitchenAid is a home appliance brand which is owned by the Whirlpool Corporation. It was started in 1919 by The Hobart Corporation to give restaurants a countertop alternative to their industrial sized mixers. The first model introduced weighed a hefty 69 lbs.

Even today each unit is still assembled by hand in Greenville, Ohio. The mixer is one of the only consumer appliances trademarked specifically for its unique shape. It’s iconic shape is one of the things that makes a KitchenAid mixer so desirable.

KitchenAid Mixer Types

All KitchenAid mixers are of the stand design, so what do we mean by mixer types? Simpy put, KitchenAid make two different styles of stand mixer, which are head tilt models and bowl lifting mixers.

Head tilt mixers have a head which tilts back at around 45 degrees to allow you access to both the bowl and beater attachments. Most of these KitchenAid mixers are for the household market.

In comparision the bowl lifting mixers have a lever which raises and lowers the bowl into and out of the mixing position. These are generally the larger, commercial, mixers.

Make sure you decide which type of KitchenAid mixer you want before going on to look at individual models (below).
